Theme and Variations for Solo Clarinet (2010) was composed while I was a student at Ithaca College, shortly after hearing Roberto Sierra's Cinco Bocetos performed on a classmate's recital. I was inspired by the beautiful sonic possibilities of unaccompanied clarinet, and focused that inspiration into composing this work, which was premiered by Brianne Remaley in 2011. This work includes two contrasting themes with five sets of variations, and totals about 6 minutes in length.
