Spring Revisited (2018) is a re-imagining of an earlier work of mine, entitled …in the spring (2010), which was composed for my former classmates, Jessie Linden and Keegan Sheehy, during our time together at Ithaca College. In my youth, I always hated the spring. While the blooming flowers and warming weather could be pleasant and beautiful, spring always also meant the end of winter, my favorite season, and the end of the school year, meaning plenty of stress and a potentially boring summer away from friends, classmate, and the full immersion of school, among many other things. This work seeks to combine the physical beauty of springtime with my personal anxieties surrounding the change in seasons. Pleasant melodies are harmonized in more dissonant and unexpected ways, allowing for both collections of emotion to shine forth.
